Locality snapshot
Wakad runs along the Mumbai-Pune bypass between Hinjewadi and Pimpri Chinchwad, which makes it one of the most commutable addresses in west Pune. Most of its stock is in large gated townships with parks, schools and retail inside or beside them.
The locality has the services of a mature suburb: malls such as Phoenix Mall of the Millennium, hospitals, and several schools within a few kilometres. Its weak spot is the roads: the Wakad bridge, Dange Chowk and the bypass slow to a crawl at peak hours.
A metro station is not planned inside Wakad itself, but the Hinjewadi line and the Pimpri line sit on either side, so many residents will combine a short feeder ride with the metro.
